Lana Whitworth

I have had the privilege of serving at Center Elementary for the past three  years and look forward to my new position as Principal at F.L. Moffett.  The bulk of my educational career has been in Joshua, TX, (Ft Worth area) where I was a behavior, special education, and 5th grade math teacher for 15 years. My husband and I raised our four children there.  Six years ago we decided to move back to East Texas where we both grew up to be near our aging parents.  Since in the East Texas area, I have taught in Gary ISD and Marshall ISD where I was a math interventionist.  I currently live in Tenaha where my husband serves as the pastor at First Baptist Tenaha. I am all about family.  My four grown children, their spouses, and my granddaughter and grandson are the center of my world. My baby girl just got engaged so we will be expanding our family again this year!

My goal for FLM is to build our new school family connection, build trust in our parents and students and, most importantly, provide a safe and happy place to learn. I want our students to feel loved and I know that in this era of social distancing, that is going to be difficult for me and my teachers (most are huggers of our littles). I will do my best to ensure that the very highest priority will be given to safety for staff and students.  I will continue to expect excellence in education from students and staff as well.  When we are in school, we will be learning.  Please bear with us as we try to navigate these new waters and follow CDC and TEA guidelines.  Things are going to be different for all of us. We will need to give each other grace throughout the year.  I am so very excited to see our kiddos again and get back to doing the best job in the world, educating the future!
